Ameris Bank Sends Aid to Afghani Children.
May 29, 2009
Thomasville, GA, In April, Ameris Bank employees from Thomasville, GA sent 15 boxes of school supplies to children in the Afghani village of Tappah Sohz. During recent events, this village was nearly destroyed, but is mostly rebuilt now. The school, however, was unable to open because they did not have even the most basic supplies like paper and writing utensils. The shipment of supplies provided by Ameris Bank helped make it possible for the school to reopen.
With the help of Major Anthony Wright of the 16 Infantry stationed in Afghanistan these supplies were distributed. Wright is a Business Banker at Ameris Bank in Thomasville when not on active duty. Major Wright wrote in an email back to his coworkers in Thomasville, "The children were excited to receive your gifts. The smallest things make a big difference in the lives of these kids... Thank you so much. These are the missions that are very rewarding for our team."
Ameris Bank plans on sending another shipment of supplies to Afghanistan early in June. If you would like to contribute items to be sent to children in Afghanistan, you may drop them off at Ameris Bank in Thomasville at 2484 East Pinetree Boulevard or in Moultrie at 225 South Main Street by June 8, 2009. A list of needed items can be picked up at either location.
